The foundation of the Indian Mushroom Academy is built on a journey of profound transformation, vision, and dedication.

Our founder, Shanjeev, spent years building a successful corporate career in Dubai. While the corporate world offered stability, Shanjeev felt a deeper calling—a desire to return to his roots in India and contribute meaningfully to the country’s agricultural landscape and sustainable food production.

Driven by this vision, Shanjeev made the bold decision to quit his corporate job and dedicate himself entirely to the world of mycology. He spent five intensive years mastering every facet of mushroom cultivation. From understanding complex laboratory cultures and substrate preparation to perfecting climate-controlled growing techniques and commercial scale-up, Shanjeev deeply immersed himself in learning from global best practices.

With five years of mastery under his belt, he returned to India to establish a state of the art mushroom farm and, ultimately, to lay the foundation for IMA.

The Birth of IMA: A First for India

During his journey, Shanjeev realized that while the interest in mushroom farming in India was growing exponentially, the ecosystem was highly fragmented. Beginners and commercial growers alike struggled to find reliable training, quality raw materials, technological guidance, and market linkages all in one place.
